Santana has specialised in the manufacture of 4x4 vehicles for nearly 50 years and the Storm4orce and Work4orce ranges have class leading off road capability and with a heavy-duty ladder chassis Santana is tough enough to cope with extreme work load and severe off road use.
Power and Torque
Power is delivered via a soft response accelerator pedal optimising off road driver control with 275 Nm of torque being delivered at only 1800 rpm. This 125 hp engine gives tremendous pulling power for towing and traversing challenging conditions.
4 wheel drive technology.
Santanas five speed gearbox drives through a two speed transfer box providing 10 forward and 2 reverse gear ratios with selectable 4 wheel drive. In normal road use drive goes to the rear axle, four wheel drive in high ratio can be selected on the move and diverts power equally to both front and rear axles for maximum traction.
The heavy duty 4 pinion rear differential has the strength and durability to cope with arduous tasks making the Santana an ideal tow vehicle.
Parabolic suspension.
Santana pioneered the development and use of Parabolic leaf suspension which combines strength and simplicity for easy low cost maintenance. With two front and four rear leaves the parabolic suspension is designed to cope with a tonne of payload and provides stability on and off road. The parabolic system maximises axle articulation and makes light work of even the toughest off road driving conditions with the minimum of body roll.
Off road capability
The low speed torque provided by the 2.8 turbo diesel engine allows even 45° slopes to be traversed at tick-over in low ratio. An approach angle of 50°, departure angle of 30°, break-over of 152°, and a wading depth of 500mm mean that severe terrain can be tackled with confidence.
Towing
The Santana is a superb tow vehicle. The torque provided by the 2.8 Turbo charged diesel enables moving off with heavy loads without excessive engine revs while the combination of heavy duty chassis, rear differential, powerful disc breaks and parabolic suspension provide stability and safety when towing loads up to 3.5 tonnes.
